October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came -
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.
~~George Cooper
I've been meaning to post this all month. Happy end of October!
(And happy Halloween, and happy eve of All Saints!)

Lovely poem! I especially like the line about the Sunshine spreading a carpet; sun tends to be associated more with summer, but I think autumn sun is perhaps the most striking of all...
Wow! I just posted this, and here you are! That's amazing... :-)
I love this little poem. I know nothing about the author but his name. First saw it on the back page of an autumn issue of a magazine a couple of years ago, and then looked for it online!
