Card Art

I used to create a lot of cards...I love making collages from beautiful paper scraps. It's been a while since I've had a chance to make any, so I was happy to spend an hour or so tonight working on some cards. I think my mother's birthday card turned out pretty nicely...I thought I'd share it here. (Mom doesn't have a computer, so this won't be giving her a sneak peek!)

My paper scraps come from all kinds of places...I've collected a lot over the past few years. Card stock, clipped words and images from catalogs, textured papers. Half the fun is just going through the scraps themselves and seeing where my fancy leads me. Shapes, lines, colors...cutting them, sketching them, putting them together in unique ways reminds me a little bit of choosing the right words to create a poem.

Thanks, Erin! It was so much fun to work on. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed doing this...I hope to find time to do more!

Did you all get walloped with snow too? Sigh....

Ah, we did indeed. It was raining when we got to Erie but snowing the next day, and there's snow aplenty on the ground now...

This is a beautiful card! Thank you so much for sharing it.. I know that Mom will love it and enjoy it. You have a way with image crafting, as you do with word crafting!

Erin, I hope at least some of your snow is melting today, like our's is! Still pretty cold though. Spring is coming, spring is coming...I'll just keep saying it until it happens! ;-)

I'm glad you like the card, Marthy! Thanks for coming over and checking it out...and even leaving a comment. I enjoyed seeing your name here! :-) I'm glad you think Mom will like the card too -- I thought the word especially appropriate since I feel very blessed to have her for a Mom!

Thanks, Holly! It's been a busy week -- no time for more card-making or even for more blogging! But you're right, exercising our creativity is so life-giving. Glad you're enjoying crocheting...one of those things I would love to learn to do. (I think I could crochet one long rope when I was about ten years old, but that was the last time I ever tried it!) Happy creating!
